2 weeks old

At 2 weeks old, Riley is sleeping about 3-4 hours at a time at night, waking up an average of 2 times per night to eat. She is a very happy baby who loves to be held and listen to her Mom and Dad's voices. She has lots of hiccups, and when she is awake and alert she is constantly checking out her surroundings and even cracking a little smile every now and then. At her 2 week checkup she weighed in at 7 lbs 10 ozs (a whole pound more than at her 3 day checkup!) and was 21 1/4 inches long. The doc said she is average for weight and in the 90th percentile for height.

Also, here's a sneak preview of some unedited shots from our photo shoot the other day...more to come once the pictures are done being edited!

Family bonding

Riley started off the weekend by sleeping in and enjoying some family bonding time with Mom, Dad and Ski (who has really begun to like her new sister and wants to be next to her all the time). After that we headed to the mall and she got to take a spin in her stroller and sit down for some lunch. For dinner she met her friends Leah, Joey, and Aunt Gigi out for some yummy Italian food. On Sunday, Riley had a special visit from her friend Katie who was kind enough to take some newborn and family photos for us - we can't wait to see how they turn out! She then joined Nene and Papa for another yummy meal and came home to settle in for the night.

Out and about

It's been a few days since the last post because Riley has been on the go, running a bunch of errands with Mom and entertaining her many visitors. She's also had some special outings, including lunch with Aunt Michelle, Colton and Levi, a first trip to One Hour to meet everyone Dad works with, and a couple lunches and dinners out with Mom and Dad. Riley is a very happy baby who is most content being held (in fact, she has slept much better at night when allowed to stay in bed with the rest of the family, only waking up a couple times for a quick snack and then going right back to sleep without fussing). She keeps us entertained with a multitude of different squeaks, hiccups and facial expressions, and has even started to follow objects with her eyes when they are moved back and forth in front of her.

People to see, places to go

Riley has kept busy the past few days with visits from Aunt Michelle and Aunt Gigi, cousins Colton and Levi, Nene and Papa, and from her new friends Leah, Joey, Tim and Anne. She has also been on a few outings: a dinner date with Mom and Dad, a quick shopping trip with Mom, and a walk on the beach with Mom, Dad and Ski. She and her sister have spent some more time bonding, and are closer than ever. Here are a bunch of pics to capture the last few days' activities:

Homecoming

Two days after the delivery, we were discharged from the hospital and took Riley home to meet her sister, Molski (Ski for short)! The two bonded very well, and the four of us started settling in to our new routines at home. Riley has proven to be quite the night owl, keeping Mom and Dad up all hours of the night, but she is slowly starting to stay up a little bit more during the day and sleep more at night. We definitely understand it is not a quick process! Today we had our first checkup with the pediatrician, who let us know that Riley looks great and has already gained back 2 of the ounces she lost while at the hospital. And in other news, Ski is thoroughly enjoying having company around her during the day, getting to go on car rides, and is adjusting to her new sister very well. So far there has been no attention lost by having a new friend in the house!

Baby's Arrival

After much anticipation (she made us wait 41 weeks and 5 days!), Riley Cameron came into the world on Tuesday, January 15th, 2013 at 10:56am. She was 7 lbs 1/2 oz at birth, measuring 21 inches long. Family and friends came by the hospital all day to meet her, give lots of hugs and kisses, and take lots of photos (she got a little annoyed by the flash). We quickly found that she enjoy trying to lift up her head in order to take a peek around, and that she is constantly moving her lips and tongue around. But her favorite thing to do is to keep her hands up by her face like a boxer - this blocked a lot of perfectly good photo opps, but we still managed! :)
