Riles has had a busy, busy month full of lots of new sights and adventures. It all started at Colton's birthday party, where she got to wear her very own superhero cape! The next weekend, Mom was running a race in NC so they stayed in a hotel overnight and in the morning she and Dad dropped Mom off and went to breakfast. Afterwards, they returned to watch Mom finish the race, and Riles even got to high-five her as she came down the final stretch. The following week both Mom and Dad ran a 5K race at ODU, and Riles got to ride along in the jogging stroller. Apparently riding is exhausting because she fell right asleep in the stroller.
Soon after that, Riles got a special treat as she went to the circus with Nene, Papa, Genna, Michelle, Josh, Colton, and Levi! She had such a blast hanging with her cousins and watching all of the lights and crazy stunts. Her next big occasion came when she celebrated Passover with the Kletz family. That week she also had her 15 month checkup, measuring 30 inches tall and weighing in at a mere 19 pounds, 5 ounces. Besides being tiny, she is perfectly healthy! One of her favorite places - the library - was holding an Easter egg hunt and storytime later that week, so Riles decided to check it out. At story time, the room was packed with kids and she really enjoyed watching how the other kids reacted to the story. Afterwards, they headed outside for the hunt. Riles found her own patch of lawn and started going at it, loading eggs 2 at a time into her basket.
The next day, she joined Genna, Michelle, Colton and Levi for some fun at Busch Gardens! She was a little unsure of some of the rides, but overall had a great time hanging with some of her favorite people. That weekend, there were no swim lessons but Mom and Riles went to the pool anyways. Riley loved going up and down the ramp, up and down the stairs, and jumping in. Monday her daycare was closed and Mom was off work, so they decided to give the bounce house a try. Riles went straight in and started climbing up and going down the slides over and over again. She thought it was hilarious to bounce all around and climb over stuff. The following weekend she attended a friend's 1st birthday party at the zoo, and afterwards got to walk around and check out some of the animals (she was really intimidated by the elephants!).
Finally, this past weekend she had swim lessons and this time Dad got in the pool with her. She thoroughly enjoyed the songs but not so much the being told what to do! Later that day, Mom and Dad left to go out of town for 2 nights so Riles got to spend some quality time first with Aunt Lizzard and then with Aunt Gigi the next day! Gigi got her some Chipotle and they also got to go pick up Nene and Papa at the airport together!
Our little girl's personality is really developing, along with her ability to sign and say more words. She has mastered the signs for 'again' and 'book', and says a bunch of words: mom, dad, uh-oh, whoa, dog, jump, open, book, more, again, ball, and her favorite - no! She can point to certain animals or objects when asked, and can even tell you what a dog says and what a cow says. She loves throwing and kicking balls around, climbing and going down slides, blowing bubbles, dancing and doing gestures to songs, and really loves playing in water. Another thing she really loves is hanging with her two little mischievous cousins - she just cracks up watching their antics. She loves to try feeding herself with a fork or spoon, and loves to dip her food. And finally, we can't forget to mention that she is doing MUCH better sleep-wise, and just might finally be sleeping through the night!
Here are a bunch of pictures and a couple videos to show what she's been up to this month:
