Maddie is just over two months old now, and she is certainly a smiley baby! Just talk to her and if she thinks you're funny she'll flash the hugest open-mouth smile at you. When awake she is very alert and is constantly moving her arms and legs. She's also starting to "coo" a little bit. If you catch her in the right mood she will talk back to you with lots of "oohs" and "ahs". She is still a pretty great sleeper! During the day she likes to take several shorter 30-45 min naps, but at night she sleeps for usually a 7 hour stretch and then goes back down until about 6 or 7am. At her checkup she was weighing in at 10lb 8.5oz and 23 1/4 inches long (growing right on par with her sister!). She enjoys laying on her play mat now, and will bat her arms at the toys that are hanging above, stare at the lights and listen to the music. As far as looks go, she has some similarities to Riley at her age, but definitely has darker hair and some different features. Her eyes at the moment are a dark blue/gray color.
While we're at it, we'll let you know what Riley's been up to too! Although a bit rainy, we have had some warmer weather and Riley has thoroughly enjoyed being outside riding her bike or swimming. She swims well with her floatie on and can do front and back floats too. This summer she is going to be taking ballet with 5 of her school friends, and she will do swim lessons as well. She had a blast playing soccer in the spring! She still goes to My Gym on Fridays, and now she is in an independent class where the parents don't participate. She loves it and does so well at trying all the new skills.
Riley is such a fantastic little person! Although still shy, she has come out of her shell quite a bit. She is a huge helper and loves to help with laundry, dinner, cleaning and taking care of Maddie. She also LOVES to watch videos on YouTube and could probably do that all day long if we let her. She loves being outside and if you ask her what she wants to do she will almost always say she wants to go to a park. She is very strong willed which can lead to battles sometimes, but it's so sweet to see that even in the midst of a battle she hates to disappoint her parents. You can tell she is conflicted between what she wants to do at that moment and what will make us happy. She is very affectionate, loving, silly, and also very smart! She knows all of her letters and numbers, can count to 20 and can write her name very well. We are so proud of the person she is becoming and the type of role model she will be for her sister!
Also this month the girls gained 2 brand new boy cousins - Jacob and Carter!
