Moving on...to VA Beach!

Phew! It's been quite a crazy couple months for these girls. After selling (and saying goodbye to) our house in Norfolk, we were off to Virginia Beach in mid-August without a house to live in! Lucky for us, Genna was kind enough to offer her place to us, and we are living there until we buy a place, or at least figure out what our next move will be. During the last week of August, the girls each started at a new school - Riley at Cape Henry and Maddie at the JCC. At Riley's school she is certainly treated like one of the big kids! She gets dropped off outside of school in the carline, goes to "specials" during the day (including Spanish, Science, Music and P.E. to name a few!), and started taking dance twice a week through the school as well. She seems to really like all 3 of her teachers, and has made a few friends already too! Maddie seems very happy at the JCC and her teachers are really great too. I love that they get to go outside to the "baby playground" or in stroller rides every day, and they take tons of pictures that get sent to us in a newsletter each week.

This summer we also managed to fit in an amazing trip to Bermuda with the Kletz family! Riley loved the hotel and had a blast playing in all three of the pools with her cousins, but her favorite was the one with the water slide. She had just finished some swim lessons before the trip, so she got to show off how she could swim without her floatie! She would swim from one person to the next to the next, and would probably have done that all day if we let her. Maddie got some time in the water as well, and it's clear she loves the water too! She also had a good time getting rides in the stroller, driven around by her big sis of course. I think our favorite experience from the trip was the sailboat ride! We spent a few hours one morning on the sailboat, including a dip in the water. Of course the girls came home with some souvenirs - matching t-shirts and for Riley a necklace with pink sand inside (she saw it and said "that's mine!" before we had even purchased it). :-)

While it's impossible to catch up on everything the girls did over the summer, it definitely included all of the typical summer activities like the pool, beach, and water parks! In August Nana and Uncle Col (UC) came to visit, and the girls enjoyed their visit very much! (We think they should most definitely move down here...hint hint). The whole gang had a blast at Water Country together, and Mom and Dad snuck away for a date night while Nana occupied the girls one night. All in all, these girls have had a pretty terrific summer full of lots of big changes, but they have handled it very well.
